Warmest thanks to all who helped
take down the Christmas decorations after the noon mass today. Taking
the decorations down is never as much
fun as putting them up, but a small group generously volunteered their
time, and the work was quick, pleasant and efficient. Now, everyone get
ready for Lent and Easter!
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was
founded in Paris in 1833 by 20 year old Antoine-Frederic Ozanam. Its
special field from
the beginning
has been "the service of God in the persons of the poor" who
are visited in their homes and assisted according to their needs. The
branches of the society in parishes are known as Conferences. The
Saint Joseph Conference operates from donations to the poor
box located in the right rear of the church at the Statue of St. Vincent
de Paul. Checks
may be made out to St. Joseph-St. Vincent de Paul. There has never been
a time in the memory of our oldest parishioners when the St. Joseph
Conference failed to help the poor in the neighborhood.
News: January 23, 2005 HELP IS NEEDED to take down the Christmas decorations in the
church. We will meet next Sunday, January 30th after the 12:00 noon Mass. Anyone
who donated a poinsettia in memory of a loved one may take their plant
today or next Sunday before or after Mass. See Patrick Degens for assistance.
FAMILY ALBUM
As announced last week, Fr. Mark has arranged for a Pictorial Directory
of all the members of the three parishes in our cluster. It will not
cost any parishioner one penny to participate, so all are encouraged
to take part. The photographers will be here in February to photograph
everyone who wants to participate. If you are photographed you will
receive one free copy of the picture of yourself and one free copy
of the directory when it is finished. You will have the option of buying
additional copies of the photo of yourself, if you wish. The result
will be a wonderful testimony to the unity of our cluster and the diversity
of our separate parishes. It will also be a great tool in getting to
know each other's names and even grow closer to each other in our cluster
and in our parishes. The photography will begin on Ash Wednesday, February
9 and continue through the 13th of February. Sign-up sheets are available
in the vestibule for parishioners to make an appointment to be photographed.
A hundred percent participation would be a great gift to Father Mark
since he gives 100 percent of himself to us.

to
take part. The photographers will be here in February to photograph

will be a wonderful testimony of the unity of our cluster and the diversity
of our separate parishes. It will also be a great tool in getting

What a glorious gift was presented
to Our Lord Jesus Christ on December 19th, the last Sunday of Advent,
when 29 adults and two small boys came
to decorate the church for the celebration of Christmas. It seemed as
if the angels were in charge as everyone worked in perfect harmony, without
any confusion, each person acting as if they had done this work a hundred
times before. May God
richly reward these volunteers a hundredfold for their generosity and
love toward Saint Joseph Church.
The informational meeting for
the archdiocesan program Together in Faith was held at
1:30 p.m. today in the Saint Joseph Church Hall for all three parishes
in our cluster. All parishes in the archdiocese are required to assess
their strengths and weaknesses and to plan appropriately for the future.
Your assistance with this project may be requested in the coming weeks,
so that the parish can present a realistic and insightful report for the
archdiocese, showing where we are, where we plan to be in the future,
and how we plan to get there. Please be generous with your time, brainpower
and creativity.
