Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Prayer request: Karen Strnad has asked for prayers for her 4-year-old grandson, Keegan Strnad, who underwent surgery for gall stones last week and also suffers from leukemia. Keegan’s dad suffers from a brain tumor.

Choral Fest sponsorship
As mentioned last week, the parish could use some financial assistance in getting its second annual Oktober Choral Fest off the ground. This event has proven to be the parish's biggest fundraiser -- plus it is an incredibly good time! -- and your contribution can help seed the effort. If you'd like to help, please download a sponsorship form or pick one up at church. Besides financial assistance, we also need considerable help from volunteers. If you're so inclined, please pick up a sign-up form to make a commitment.

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Choral Fest sponsorship
On September 23, the parish will sponsor its second annual Oktober Choral Fest, a celebration of German choral music that was quite well attended last year and was one of our largest parish fundraisers of 2006. To get things going for the 2007 festival, the parish could use some financial help for food and beverage supplies, radio advertising, ticket printing, lighting and other necessities. If you'd like to help, please download a sponsorship form or pick one up at church. All the instructions are printed on it. We'll all be very grateful.

Stained glass and storm windows
We have been actively seeking bids to replace the storm windows on the church and to restore the "Death of Saint Joseph" window. As previously stated in a Sunday bulletin, our storm windows are actually falling off the building. It has become an absolute necessity to replace them. The remainder of the money in our stained glass restoration fund will necessarily have to be directed toward this purpose. Our stained glass windows are in very poor condition and badly need re-leading. If we allow the storm windows to collapse, the stained glass would in all likelihood, be blown in. We cannot allow this to happen. We have chosen the firm of Van der Hoff Studios of Melrose, Wisconsin, to perform this work. Anyone wishing to see work previously done by this company, can view the storm windows at Immaculate Conception Church in Anchorville just north of New Baltimore on Anchor Bay (Lake St. Clair). Those storm windows were installed 3 years ago along with extensive repairs to their stained glass. The work there speaks for itself. Our stained glass window fund will be seriously depleted and we appreciate any donations toward this project.
